Pete "LocoRunner" Gaytan.
Pete is a 62 year young runner who is achieving marathon personal records in his 60s. He has found that training and competing in marathons and triathlons in retirement has allowed him to achieve goals that were difficult to complete at a younger age. He recently ranked #1 in the world for the marathon in his age group based on the Abbott World Marathon Majors Age Group World Rankings. He competed in the Abbott World Age Group Championships in London in 2021 and 2022. Pete also qualified for the 2022 Ironman 70.3 Word Championship in Utah. Pete’s personal best in the marathon is 2:49:27, achieved at the young age of 59.
Pete has been running since middle school (mid 1970’s) and went on to compete in the cross country and the 1 mile event in high school. Pete did his first marathon in 2001 at the Houston Marathon and qualified for the 2001 Boston Marathon. He has qualified for the Boston Marathon every year since then. Pete enjoys doing the Houston marathon so much that he has completed it every year since 2001. Except for 2007 (contact him for the story).
Pete is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and coaches athletes training for running and triathlon events. He embraces new technology and new products to help improve performance in endurance events and to improve longevity.
